Michael was born and raised in the United States. Throughout his life, he has resided in various states, but he has now settled in Missoula, Montana. This allows him to relish in a vibrant natural environment while also taking advantage of the conveniences of city life. A few hours away from his home lies his beloved Yellowstone National Park, which holds a special place in his heart.
He earned a degree in Computer Science from the University of Denver in Colorado. Currently, he is pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Science at the University of Montana in Missoula. Upon graduation, he transitioned to working exclusively on remote projects and positions, allowing him to constantly travel from one location to another. To keep his mind engaged, he always juggles at least three projects simultaneously.
Michael has a remarkable track record in successfully managing projects of various scales, from inception to completion, continually showcasing his managerial, analytical, and technical prowess. At every step, he has displayed his exceptional ability to navigate the intricacies of project management, ensuring smooth execution and delivering exceptional results.
Professional experience
During his time in college, Michael initially became interested in the development of iGaming platforms. Being a fan of casino games (especially poker) and sports betting, he recognized numerous areas for improvement that could better serve players and users. As a result, he dedicated eight years to the field of iGaming software engineering. Some of the platforms and websites he worked on are still utilized by millions of individuals worldwide to this day.
He is adept at employing a diverse array of tools for each task he undertakes in his daily routine, ranging from utilizing New Relic for server monitoring to employing ElasticSearch as a distributed search server, as well as employing Configuration Management tools such as Ansible and Puppet.
Furthermore, Michael has recently held positions at various multinational companies as a project manager and senior analyst, where he identified process improvement opportunities to enhance the stability of their online platforms and achieve maximum operational efficiency. He has also conducted training sessions for our team regarding technical support for systems.
His extensive background in various areas of iGaming has made him a highly skilled professional in handling project management tools, processes, and techniques. With a wealth of experience spanning across different domains within the iGaming industry, he has developed a deep understanding of the intricacies involved in effectively managing projects. This has equipped him with the expertise to navigate the challenges that arise, ensuring successful project delivery. His broad range of experiences has honed his ability to adapt and utilize the most suitable tools and methodologies for each unique project, optimizing efficiency and achieving desired outcomes. He possesses a comprehensive skill set that encompasses not only project management but also a strong grasp of the iGaming landscape, enabling him to tailor strategies specifically to the industry's demands. From conceptualization to execution, his proficiency in project management ensures that projects are executed smoothly, on time, and within budget.
Role and functions in the gambling-world
Michael, along with Bruno and Kevin, collaborates in the programming team at gambling-world. His role involves determining the tools and server architecture we utilize on the website. The utmost importance lies in making these decisions to guarantee seamless operation of the site at all times.
As the Tech Stack Lead, Michael is responsible for setting up our cloud servers using the web server ecosystem of Apache and Nginx, which enable incredibly fast and stable performance. As an additional resource, we have recently incorporated the Varnish Cache, acting as an HTTP accelerator and reverse cache proxy, ensuring users have a speedy and seamless experience on our website. In order to provide an added level of stability and speed, our tech stack lead is actively working on implementing a CDN to ensure that gambling-world is always active and equipped with extra protection against DDoS attacks and potential data breaches.
Michael understands that performance, speed, stability, and security are our top priorities. That's why he constantly monitors our servers, working diligently to implement new improvements every month and ensure they are up-to-date and ready to perform at their best. For instance, the utilization of HTTP/2 greatly enhances the speed of communication between our servers and users. Moreover, his extensive expertise in Linux (Debian and Ubuntu) provides us with the confidence that gambling-world is in capable hands.
Michal's role extends beyond overseeing and coordinating our programming and design team. He takes charge of organizing the platform's technical projects and assumes the responsibility of supervising the team's activities, lending a helping hand whenever necessary. Michal diligently generates reports and identifies technical errors for improvement. His expertise in managing remote teams has proven invaluable in efficiently overseeing the diverse professionals at gambling-world, who hail from various corners of the globe.
