Marcelo, the current CFO of gambling-world and co-founder of the platform alongside Rui and Yuuma, has a fascinating background. Originally from São Paulo, he was born and raised there but has now made Sliema in Malta his second home and second office. His educational journey led him to pursue a degree in Business Administration at the renowned USP School of Economics, Business, and Accounting, where he focused on Strategic and Financial Planning. Marcelo's expertise in these areas has been instrumental in the growth and success of gambling-world.
His areas of interest have always been Administration and Finance. After graduating, he took various courses and gained experience in planning and management positions in several South African and European private companies, until the creation of gambling-world, where he became the Head of the Financial Department. The initial idea for this platform emerged from a casual conversation between Rui and Marcelo, two South Africans working in the iGaming industry in Malta. During their casual discussions, they conceived the website as a side project that could be done after their regular working hours.
In 2017, following a year of dedicated effort and meticulous planning, the independent launch of gambling-world became a reality. The platform's current primary objectives revolve around maximizing the potential of its administration, team, and resources. Marcelo plays a pivotal role in the success of gambling-world, particularly in the long run, as he is responsible for formulating and overseeing our strategic growth plan. With his extensive background in management and finance, we are confident in his ability to confront head-on the challenges that lie ahead.
Professional experience
Marcelo spent seven years honing his skills in the field of business administration and finance, working for major South African companies. Through his tenure, he gained valuable knowledge and expertise in the key techniques and qualities required to foster the growth of a successful enterprise. His career began with administrative responsibilities, gradually transitioning to sales management where he thrived.
In his early years as a professional, he acquired expertise in budget planning, anticipating market shifts, utilizing data analysis tools, critically evaluating information, crafting reports, and monitoring outcomes.
Since 2014, Marcelo has been working in Malta for a European iGaming company, allowing him to tackle more ambitious projects. His role has evolved to include establishing and implementing goals, overseeing financial and budgetary activities for specific projects, spearheading innovation by seeking out technologies that enhance the department, negotiating agreements, and analyzing financial statements, sales reports, and other performance indicators.
Marcelo, with his extensive background in the iGaming financial landscape, recognized the immense potential of gambling-world in South Africa. He conducted projections for the project's growth, strategizing potential investors, partnerships, and agreements that would benefit both co-founders and players alike. Prior to the website's launch, he spearheaded comprehensive research on potential risks and profits, delving into market trends and offering valuable insights to shape gambling-world' vision, goals, and objectives – a platform built by players, for players.
The role and responsibilities of casinos in South Africa
As the CFO of gambling-world, Marcelo holds the responsibility of arranging and delivering the financial data for the company. His duties encompass generating reports and records of our monthly and yearly finances, as well as overseeing our funds in their entirety, which includes an assessment of potential investments. Additionally, Marcelo is tasked with managing available resources, forecasting and mitigating potential risks, identifying advantageous partnerships for our team, and staying informed about market trends.
Perhaps Marcelo's most important role at gambling-world is his ability to design our long-term scenario based on his analyses and judgment. This aids us in determining whether we are on the right track. Alongside our CEO Rui and our CMO Yuuma, Marcelo also orchestrates the company's expansion strategies, forging partnerships with other industry brands to consistently deliver the finest content to our users.
With 15 years of industry experience under his belt, Marcelo is a vital asset to our team, thanks to his exceptional leadership skills, team management expertise, and strategic planning abilities. Alongside his co-founders, Marcelo oversees, assists, and remains well-informed about all the projects carried out by the team.
