Discover our UX/UI designer

Kevin, originally from New Jersey, now resides in San Francisco, California. He is a self-taught designer who gained all his knowledge through hands-on experience. With 13 years of expertise under his belt, Kevin's passion for the UI/UX design field and the creative aspect of his work only continues to grow with each new project. After working for various US-based companies, he made the decision to transition to remote work three years ago, spending the past two years as a valued member of the Gambling World team.

User experience (UX) and user interface (UI) are two vital elements of web design. Kevin, as a UX designer, takes responsibility for ensuring that a website or digital product follows a specific logical path that guides the user throughout the process or experience. As a UI designer, his focus is on ensuring that the visual aspects of this process/experience are well-presented and align with the desired communication of each part. Kevin's expertise lies in crafting seamless user journeys and visually appealing interfaces that effectively communicate the intended message.

The initial step in his workflow involves contemplating strategies to establish a coherent path. Subsequently, the focus shifts towards materializing these ideas through the implementation of a specific visual appeal that instills users with a profound sense of interactivity and communication. From his perspective, the primary purpose of design revolves around resolving challenges. With this in mind, Kevin has spent his career diligently seeking out problems and devising imaginative solutions to tackle them. Throughout the years, he has honed his skills while working for three American companies as a designer and actively contributing to open-source initiatives such as the Bootstrap framework.

As a personal endeavor, he established a blog back in 2015, where he delves into his creative process and discusses emerging topics and technologies associated with User Experience and User Interface. His areas of interest encompass photography, illustration, and ventures that allow him to tap into his creative side. In pursuit of his passion, he has embarked on numerous projects that showcase his artistic flair. Throughout the years, this blog has served as a platform for him to share insights, inspiration, and his unique perspective on the ever-evolving field of design.

Professional experience

Kevin entered the job market as a graphic designer at a young age, an experience that helped him cultivate a discerning eye and acquire fundamental design tools and principles. He quickly became intrigued by web design, User Research, and Design Thinking, directing his attention towards more ambitious digital projects that demanded meticulous planning. Consequently, he honed his skills as a UX and UI designer, specializing in creating engaging user experiences and visually appealing interfaces.

In his 13-year career as a designer, Kevin has gained valuable experience working for two American marketing companies and an online commerce startup. During this time, he honed his skills in creating designs that are not only visually appealing but also optimized for driving conversions. In addition to his professional endeavors, Kevin has also taken on side projects, such as developing mobile applications, where he successfully implemented gamification techniques to boost user engagement and generate increased revenue for the company. Furthermore, he dedicated time to studying Information Architecture (IA), a field that brings structural design principles into the virtual environment.

In 2015, he made the decision to embrace remote work, which granted him greater flexibility to pursue one of his passions, slow travel. Working closely with the Gambling World team since 2017, his goal has been to transform the website into a trusted source of content for South African players.

As our sole UI/UX designer, Kevin possesses the expertise to carry out, streamline, and evaluate research and data amassed about our user base. He also recognizes the importance of accentuating our content through page layout and information architecture, establishing our brand identity as distinctive and indelible in the minds of our readers.

The role and responsibilities of casinos in South Africa

Kevin is in charge of setting up an unbeatable user experience on our platform. His duties encompass delving into our target audience research to comprehend and grasp their expectations and sentiments concerning online gaming topics. He is also responsible for devising the platform's branding, as well as the site's layout and design. It is also his responsibility to ensure that the information structure is clear, concise, and intuitive.

For him, the primary role is to investigate the target audience. To achieve this, he employs tracking tools to analyze the goals of our users and gain a precise understanding of how their perspectives on certain matters are evolving. Through this process, he cultivates a deeper comprehension of their requirements. Kevin additionally conducts practical research with exclusive focus groups to gauge their reactions and further enhance the end product. His discerning eye has been pivotal in crafting a visual identity for gambling-world that truly reflects our principles and objectives.

Kevin is the perfect professional to be part of the Gambling World programming team because, as a UX designer, he understands that it's not enough to know how users behave, react, or think about design. He primarily utilizes tools like InVision and Sketch in his wireframe and interactive prototype creation process. Kevin recognizes the importance of understanding how users feel throughout their platform experience, making him an invaluable asset.

Learn more about Kevin.

Being the UX/UI designer at Gambling World, one of the aspects I truly enjoy is immersing myself in South African culture. As our goal was to create a website that truly represents South African players and connects with them on a personal level, I dedicated months to researching our target audience, understanding their needs, and empathizing with their sentiments towards online gaming. Throughout this process, I collaborated closely with our skilled writer, Natalia, ensuring that we were always aligned in terms of content approach. Together, we strived to create a platform that resonates with the South African gaming community.

It has been great. Everyone on the team is an excellent professional, and everyone understands a bit of everything. That's why I can discuss my ideas with everyone. My goal is for the designs to always address a question, solve a problem, and be in direct contact with South African users. I believe we have achieved this with gambling-world, which is one of the only content platforms for South African gamers and bettors. Today, gambling-world fills a gap that was open, and that's wonderful because not only was the design intended to solve a problem, but the entire platform was created in this way.

Like many members of the team, my introduction to the realm of iGaming came through online poker. Back in 2010, I stumbled upon the world of online casinos when I realized that several of my friends were engaging in online betting purely for the sake of entertainment.
